This snazzy Fiat 500 came to us from Austria, or more precisely from Lower Austria. This owner also did little research before buying his classic car in Italy. None of the subsequent Abarth conversions were registered in the Italian registration document and are therefore not permitted in Austria.

This resulted in a list of around 40 deviations and damages. Our task was to eliminate these damages and at the same time restore the bodywork. After the work was completed, the Fiat received an individual permit in Austria. So again, our advice: inform yourself before buying a vintage car. It will save you money, time and a lot of hassle.

Imagine stepping into a time machine, turning the knob back to 1957, and poof - there it is, the original Fiat 500. This charming little car is as Italian as pasta al pomodoro and is sure to put a smile on the face of even the grumpiest time traveller. But why, you ask? Let's delve into the world of the Fiat 500 and discover what makes it so unforgettable.

The Fiat 500 wasn't just a car; it was a revolution on wheels. At a time when the average vehicle was so big it could almost fit a ballroom, the Fiat 500 came along and showed the world that being small was a virtue. With its compact dimensions, the Fiat 500 could zip through Italy's narrowest streets as if it were a stroll through the park.

Under the hood - or rather under the rear, because that's where the engine was hidden - was a 479 cc powerhouse that released a whopping 13 hp. Yes, you heard right. With 13 hp, this little speedster could make hearts beat faster and at the same time be so economical that even a Scotsman would take his hat off to him.

But the Fiat 500 was more than just an economical car; it was a symbol of freedom. In the post-war period, as Italy got back on its feet, the Fiat 500 became a symbol of the economic miracle, helping Italians to become mobile and enjoy the Dolce Vita. It was practically the Vespa of the automotive sector; small, agile and outrageously charming.

And then there was the design. With its rounded shapes and friendly expression, the Fiat 500 was more reminiscent of a lovable cartoon character than a car. It was as if someone had taken a bunch of cuteness and smuggled it into a car factory. It was no coincidence that the Fiat 500 remained in production until 1975 and drove straight into people's hearts.

In summary: The Fiat 500 was not just a car. It was a small marvel that showed that size is not everything. In its essence, the Fiat 500 embodied the Italian way of life, combined with a pinch of engineering and a large spoonful of charm. A truly timeless classic.
