This great 190SL, a US import, came to us from beautiful Hamburg. When we started the restoration work on the W121, it was already over. The owner told us that he was emigrating to Spain with his family and selling his vintage car collection. It's a shame, we were really looking forward to this project.

The Mercedes Benz 190 SL, especially the 1960 model, is an outstanding example of elegance and engineering in automotive history. This vehicle, which belongs to the W121 series, was produced from 1955 to 1963 and represents the heyday of automotive luxury in the 1960s. The 190 SL was not just a car, but a symbol of style and sophistication.
The 190 SL shared many design elements with its more powerful sibling, the famous 300 SL, including the distinctive body shape and interior design. However, this roadster was designed more for comfort and everyday usability than pure performance. With its 1.9-liter four-cylinder engine producing around 105 horsepower, the 190 SL offered a balanced mix of performance and ride comfort. The vehicle was available as a convertible, with the option of a hardtop, making it a versatile companion.
The design of the 1960 Mercedes Benz 190 SL was one of timeless beauty. With its flowing lines, long bonnet and compact rear, it embodied the elegance of the Mercedes design language of the era. The interior was equally impressive, with a mix of leather, chrome and wood that gave a luxurious feel. The attention to detail was evident everywhere, from the round dashboard gauges to the stylishly designed door handles.
The 190 SL was not only a beautiful roadster, but also a technical masterpiece of its time. It had an independent suspension, a modern braking system and a robust construction that ensured safety and durability. These technical features, combined with the luxurious design, made the 190 SL very popular with celebrities and car enthusiasts.
Today, the 1960 Mercedes Benz 190 SL is a sought-after collector's item and an outstanding example of 1960s automotive design. Its blend of elegance, luxury and technology makes it a timeless classic.
