The Renault Alpine A110 was first introduced in 1961 and produced in various variants until 1977. A striking feature of this sports car was its lightweight and compact design, which was geared towards racing and performance. The body of the A110 was made of aluminum and glass fiber reinforced plastic, resulting in a low overall weight.
Under the hood of the Alpine A110 was a four-cylinder in-line engine with displacements of between 1.1 and 1.6 liters, depending on the model and version. These engines developed power outputs of around 55 to 138 hp, which enabled the A110 to reach a top speed of up to 215 km/h, depending on the engine.
The Renault Alpine A110 was an outstanding rally car and celebrated numerous successes in international competitions. Thanks to its agile chassis setup and low weight, it was a maneuverable and powerful racing car that excelled on demanding routes.
The interior of the Alpine A110 was spartan and reduced to the essentials in order to maintain the low weight. Nevertheless, it offered space for two passengers and the necessary equipment for rally competitions.
Although production of the original Alpine A110 ended in the 1970s, its legacy lives on in modern interpretations of the model. Renault has revived the name and design in more recent sports cars such as the Alpine A110 (2017) to keep the excitement for this iconic brand alive. The Renault Alpine A110 remains a timeless symbol of French sports car craftsmanship and passion for rallying.
