Tatra, founded in 1850 in Kopřivnice (now the Czech Republic), is one of the oldest vehicle manufacturers in the world. Originally specializing in carriages, the company began producing automobiles in 1897 and became known for innovative designs and technology.
In the 1930s, Tatra set new standards with aerodynamic models such as the Tatra 77.
These vehicles, often equipped with air-cooled rear engines, were far ahead of their time. Tatra was also a leader in the construction of robust trucks that could be used in extreme conditions.
Today, Tatra focuses on commercial vehicles, but remains an important chapter in automotive history through its visionary automobiles.
