We restored this bathtub for a Czech lover of vehicles from the 1960s. Here, too, a second bathtub had to give up its life because the substance of the restoration project was simply too bad. Therefore, always pay attention to completeness and originality when buying a classic car. Unfortunately, due to a technical problem, we lost the photos from the beginning of the restoration. The Ford Taunus 17M, affectionately called the "bathtub" due to its curved body shape, was produced by Ford Germany from 1960 to 1964. Its innovative design, characterized by clear lines and smooth surfaces, was clearly different from previous models and set new standards in automobile design.

The Taunus 17M was powered by four-cylinder in-line engines with displacements between 1.5 and 1.7 liters, which produced outputs of 55 to 75 hp. Power was transmitted via manual three- or four-speed gearboxes; a Saxomat semi-automatic gearbox was available as an option.

The interior offered generous space and comfort for the middle class of the time. Optional features such as velour carpet, grab handles in the rear, trip meter, whitewall tires, two-tone paintwork or a make-up mirror on the sun visor above the passenger seat were available.

With over 669,000 units produced, the Taunus 17M was a great success for Ford. Its combination of innovative design and solid technology made it a popular vehicle in the German middle class.

Today, the Ford Taunus 17M “bathtub” is a sought-after classic car. Its unique design and historical significance make it a valued collector’s item among automobile enthusiasts.

g EMW 309. A total of around 40,000 units of the IFA F9 were produced. In 1956, production was discontinued in favor of the successor model, the Wartburg 311.

The IFA F9 is considered a milestone in East German automobile construction and was the last vehicle produced in the GDR with so-called "suicide doors" (rear-hinged doors). Its design and technology had a significant influence on the development of subsequent models and continue to shape the image of classic GDR vehicles to this day.
